About the Workplace

British Owned and Managed English Academy in Nonhyeon, Incheon Looking for FT Teacher from March 2024. PT roles can also be discussed for an outstanding candidate.

School Background

We opened as a family run school in June 2022 with a unique, literacy-based curriculum and a warm, creative, collaborative learning environment. Due to exceptional success, we will be expanding in brand new, purpose built premises in February 2024 and require a fluent English & Korean speaker to join our team.

Our school provides low stress, enjoyable, creative English language lessons that maintain academic rigour and high student achievement while focusing on teamwork and friendship over competition. We encourage reading over memorising vocabulary, collaboration over competition, tasks over tests, projects over closed grammar, critical thinking over multiple choice. We treat and teach students how we would want our own children to be treated and taught.

This is not a 'teach page 23' type of job. The materials we use are high quality and effective, but they are a guide. We supplement materials with projects, crafts, mini-presentations, etc. and expect teachers to be creative in their lesson planning. We will support teachers in this, but are looking for someone really interested in teaching excellence.

This Role

When we opened the school, we planned on taking students up to Grade 5. However, our students do not want to leave, and so we are now looking to develop our classes for students Grade 5 to Grade 8. We are looking to bridge our educational philosophy while meeting the needs of students in this age group to be successful in school exams. While the core curriculum will be as described above, the teacher in this role will also need to teach engaging, interactive grammar lessons in Korean.

Culture

We have been heavily involved in English language education at many different levels since 2009. We are a very young school, and so flexibility will be essential, but we strongly believe that in order to maintain the warm, friendly, happy atmosphere in our school, teachers must be happy as well. When our students arrive at our school, they run in smiling and ready to learn. This atmosphere has to be maintained as we expand. Staff are treated with warmth, kindness, and respect. We are trying our absolute hardest to break the stereotypical learning and working experience of Korean academies.

Please email krrecruit24@protonmail.com with your resume/CV. No photo or any other personal details required. Cover letter is optional. Next step is for us to hold a video chat with you, and if in Korea, meet you in person with all associated travel costs covered by us.

Please mention that you found the job on Teast for the school's reference.

You need to be from one of the following countries to teach English in South Korea: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. If you’re not from one of those, you can still teach in most other countries. This rule is specific to South Korea’s visa issuance.
Schools receive many applications and may not reply to everyone. If you don’t hear back within a week, move on to the next job.
Never pay to apply. Never pay to “buy something now and get reimbursed later.” Always verify you’re speaking with the actual school (not an impostor). Scams do exist—be careful.
